Understanding Barcode Formats

Barcodes are machine-readable representations of data, typically used in POS (Point of Sale) systems, inventory management, and shipping. Here are the most common formats supported by our tool:

CODE128: The most versatile and widely used format. It supports all 128 ASCII characters (letters, numbers, and symbols). Highly recommended for general purpose use.
CODE39: An older alphanumeric format. It creates much wider barcodes than CODE128 and is limited to uppercase letters, numbers, and a few special characters.
EAN-13 / EAN-8: European Article Number. This is the standard retail barcode used globally (outside North America). EAN-13 requires exactly 12 or 13 numbers.
UPC: Universal Product Code. The standard retail barcode used in the USA and Canada. Requires exactly 11 or 12 numeric digits.
